Untuk kalimat pertama, bisa dibuat berdasarkan dialog baris keenam dan kedelapan, yaitu:
Eric: … Sherly transferred school. (Sherly pindah sekolah.)
Eric: … Her dad got a job promotion in another town. (Ayahnya mendapatkan promosi kerja di kota lain.)
Dari informasi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa akibatnya (effect) adalah “Sherly transferred school” dan penyebabnya (cause) adalah “Her dad got a job promotion in another town”. Kita bisa menggunakan penghubung “because” sebelum cause-nya, sehingga kalimatnya menjadi: Sherly transferred school because her dad got a job promotion in another town.
Untuk kalimat kedua, bisa dibuat berdasarkan dialog baris kesepuluh, yaitu:
Eric: … I’m going to hang up … I have to help my dad. (Aku akan memutus teleponnya … aku harus membantu ayahku.)
Dari informasi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa akibatnya (effect) adalah “Eric is going to hang up” dan penyebabnya (cause) adalah “he has to help his dad”. Kita bisa menggunakan penghubung “so” sebelum effect-nya, sehingga kalimatnya menjadi: Eric has to help his dad, so he is going to hang up.
Oleh karena itu, contoh jawaban yang benar adalah:
