Kalimat soal termasuk jenis kalimat positif Simple Past Tense karena terdapat penggunaan kata kerja kedua “met” yang berarti “bertemu/berjumpa”. Struktur kalimat positif Simple Past Tense yakni: Subject + Verb 2 + Object.
Untuk diketahui, kalimat positif Present Perfect Tense memiliki struktur kalimat sebagai berikut: S + Have/Has + Verb 3 + Object.
Karena subjek kalimat soal “They” termasuk third plural person atau orang ketiga jamak, maka subjek kalimat “They”, dalam Present Perfect Tense, harus diikuti dengan auxiliary verb atau kata kerja bantu “Have”. Dan, untuk kata kerja kedua “met” harus diubah ke dalam bentuk kata kerja ketiga “met”.
